Yesterday, I was able to attend the Free to Worship Concert. I wasn’t feeling too hot, but I knew that if I didn’t go I would probably regret it. The concert was only five dollars and Addison road was going to be there. Addison Road had come to the Rock and Worship tour in April 09 and since then their CD is what has been in my car’s CD player. It hasn’t been changed since then. I only got to hear a few other bands play – Maryland Parkway and Atlas Takes Aim. Jeff really dug Atlas Takes Aim and we left with two CD’s of theirs. I really loved their song Golden Voice. It was so awesome to be in downtown Las Vegas in the beautiful Clark County Amphitheater (which I didn’t even know existed until this show) with other Christians freely worshiping our Lord. This is something completely awesome when we as Christians come together as one and worship together. I always think how pleasing that must be to God. How He must have loved hearing all of these Christian voices from “Sin City” praising His Holiness and Grace.
Addison Road surely didn’t disappoint leading the group in worship with God Reigns and How Great is our God. Before this song, Jenny (lead vocalist from Addison Road) read from Isaiah 43. These verses really hit my core. I have been thinking about them since she read.
Isaiah 43 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
1 Now this is what the LORD says—
the One who created you, Jacob,
and the One who formed you, Israel —
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name; you are Mine.
2 I will be with you
when you pass through the waters,
and [when you pass] through the rivers,
they will not overwhelm you.
You will not be scorched
when you walk through the fire,
and the flame will not burn you.
3 For I the LORD your God,
the Holy One of Israel, and your Savior,
give Egypt as a ransom for you,
Cush and Seba in your place.
4 Because you are precious in My sight
and honored, and I love you,…..
10 “You are My witnesses” —
the LORD‘s declaration—
“and My servant whom I have chosen,
so that you may know and believe Me
and understand that I am He.
No god was formed before Me,
and there will be none after Me.
11 I, I am the LORD,
and there is no other Savior but Me.
12 I alone declared, saved, and proclaimed—
and not some foreign god among you.
So you are My witnesses”—
the LORD‘s declaration—
“and I am God.
13 Also, from today on I am He [alone],
and no one can take [anything] from My hand.
I act, and who can reverse it?”
What an awesome promise God gives us from His Word. “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine.” To know and to be able to rest in this promise of God’s is truly awesome. What other God speaks so clearly and gives us so much comfort “I will be with you when you pass through the waters, and [when you pass] through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. You will not be scorched when you walk through the fire, and the flame will not burn you.” To know that no matter what trial we face in our lives, God will be with us every step of the way and not only will He be with us, but he will protect us. For God to say in His Word.. “Because you are precious in My sight and honored, and I love you,” We are precious and so loved by our Heavenly father. That makes my heart melt. That fatherly love from God.
I’m sure that I’ll be thinking about these verses in the days to come. I’m so glad that I didn’t miss this night of worship.
